The Document Workspace: finding, uploading and organizing records
Last updated: September 9, 2026
Document Workspace holds every record attached to any request, in one place. Use it when you are working across requests rather than inside one: finding a document you know exists, organizing what you hold, or checking what has already been released.
How to find and file a document
Go to Document Workspace.
Search by file name in the box at the top, or click Filters to narrow by review status, type or the date it was added.
Use the folder list on the left to jump to a group.
To file a document, use the folder control on its row and pick a destination.
To read a document without leaving the list, use the preview control on its row.
The two tabs
Documents is the worklist: individual records, with their review status.
Published Cases is what has already been released, grouped into the packages requesters actually received.
Each tab keeps its own filters and its own position in the list, so paging through one never disturbs the other.
The folders you start with
All Documents. Everything.
Unfiled. Not yet placed in a folder. This is where new records land.
Awaiting Redaction. Marked as needing redaction, not yet done.
Redacted Bundles. Redaction complete.
New folder adds your own. Folders are for your agency's own organization and do not change a document's review status.
Identical copies
Where the same document has arrived more than once, the list says so on the row: 3 identical copies, for example.
Pay attention to this. The same record turning up on several requests is the ordinary route to inconsistent disclosure, where two officers redact the same document differently and both versions end up in the world. The flag is there so you can check what was done last time before you decide again.
Uploading
Records can be uploaded directly to a request from its Case/Media tab. Anything uploaded arrives at the start of the review sequence, whatever else has happened to it elsewhere.
