Configure business days, holidays and your agency calendar

Last updated: August 27, 2026

Business hours decide how every deadline in Govflo is counted. Set them before anything that depends on them, because getting them wrong makes every due date in the product wrong in the same direction.

How to set business hours

  1. Go to Settings, then User Management, then Business Hours.

  2. Set your working hours for each day.

  3. Set your time zone.

  4. Add your holidays.

Changes take effect immediately across the agency. There is no Save button.

Why this is the first thing to configure

First-response deadlines are counted in working hours, not calendar days. The clock runs during the hours set here and stops outside them.

So a request arriving at 4pm on a Friday does not burn its response window over the weekend, provided the weekend is not configured as working time. If it is, every deadline your agency reports will be wrong, and wrong in a way that looks like an agency missing deadlines rather than a configuration error.

Time zone

Set the time zone to where the office actually operates, not to where a server is or where an administrator happens to be.

Deadlines are reported to requesters and cited in compliance reporting. An hour of drift is invisible until a deadline falls either side of midnight, at which point it becomes a date dispute.

Holidays

Enter your agency's holidays for the year ahead rather than as they arrive. A holiday added the day before does not retrospectively adjust deadlines already calculated across it.

Include local and agency-specific closures, not only public holidays. A day your office is shut is a day your office cannot respond, whatever the calendar says.

Checking your work

Open any request and read SLA Details. If a due date looks a day out, come back here: a missing holiday or a mismatched time zone accounts for nearly every case.

What this does not affect

Business hours change how deadlines are counted, not what the windows are. The windows themselves are set under SLA Policies.
